Spiral Beaded Pen Project with Cover BackCreate a beautiful beaded pen in minutes by using a simple Papermate™ stick pen, Ultra Sticky Craft Tape, beads and glitter!
Supplies Needed:
1" Ultra Sticky Craft Tape™ Optional items needed to add extra pizzazz: ½" Ultra Sticky Craft Tape™ Lä Dé Dä Micro Glitz Lä Dé Dä Chunky Glitter Place your Seed Beads, Micro Beads, and Glitter into small separate containers. (Tupperware™ works great!) For best results, make sure your Seed Beads are clean and warm. The cold and humidity effects how the beads will bond. To ensure a secure bond, heat your beads with a heat tool or blow dryer on low until warm to the touch. Ultra Sticky Craft Tape™ cures in about 24-48 hours. Remember to graduate down (large to small) in the size of the bead or glitter each time you dip your pen. Between each bead and glitter application, brush off or tap off excess beads and glitter.
Directions: First roll a strip of your tape out from the 1" Ultra Sticky Craft Tape ™ and simply just lay the Papermate™ pen on the sticky side of the tape lengthwise starting about 1" inch from the tip of the pen leaving a ¼" inch overhang at the top of the pen. Wrap the tape around the pen. The tape may overlap just a little. Make sure tape is pressed securely around the pen and press down the extra tape at the top.
Now starting at the top of the pen, spiral down the pen with ¼" Ultra Sticky Craft Tape™. You must place the tape at an angle at the top of the pen and holding the tape steady in one hand turn the pen in your other hand and the tape will spiral down the pen making a candy can stripe. Remove the liner and dip the pen in your warm Seed Beads making sure all the spaces are filled. Press the beads down into the tape using your thumbs.
Next graduate down in bead size and fill all the teeny tiny wholes still remaining with Lä Dé Dä’s Micro Beads or Chunky Glitter. Follow up by rolling the pen in our Fine Glitter to give it the final coat. Between bead and glitter applications, remember to brush excess beads and glitter off using a large make-up brush.
Options: Use the ½" Ultra Sticky Craft Tape™ to spiral down the pen. Try using our Chunky Glitter and Micro Glitz too. Let your imagination soar!Pen Cover Directions: Lay your 14" long ribbon flat on a surface with the side of the ribbon to be the inside of your cover facing up. Place a piece of ⅛" Ultra Sticky Craft Tape across each end and fold over making a small hem. next place a strip of ⅛" Ultra Sticky Craft Tape down the sides of the ribbon. Then fold the ribbon so that the ends meet and press the side together so the tape holds. Viola!!!! You have a beautiful cover for your pen. This is a very simple project and a great way to complete your pen for gifts. Tips to Remember!!
